All tours operate Rain or Shine. It is highly likely that any time of the year you will encounter at least one rain shower during the tour. Rain showers in the Bahamas tend to be short, and fast moving.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Bahamas is our meeting spot. Buses are quite irregular so if you’re not renting a car the best bet would be to order a taxi service.

The best time of year to visit is from December to May. Temperatures at this time are between 21 to 24 25°C (70-75 F), and the risk of tropical storms is low. Swimming year-round is also possible however because seawater temperatures usually stay above 25°C (80 F).

The Swim with Pigs excursion is a full-day or half-day tour to visit the Bahamas swimming pigs in Rose Island. Since there is no public transport or other means to reach Swimming Pigs Island, the only way is to book a swim with pigs excursion day trip with Seas N’ Cays Cruises.

Can you swim with pigs in the Bahamas without a tour? Not at this time. There is no public transport to Pig Beach so you must book an excursion to visit the pigs. Because these are wild pigs, you don’t want to visit the island without a knowledgeable tour guide.

The waters off the Bahamas are safe and ideal for swimming. This archipelago of nearly 700 islands is located in the Atlantic Ocean, more towards the southeast direction of America (near Florida). The famous astronaut Scot Kelly once called it ‘the most beautiful place from space.

If you’re traveling to Rose Island or don’t live far off, you should really make the trip to go see its pigs. The swimming pigs at Rose Island are nice, and fun, and will offer you a unique experience. It’s rare that people get to go swimming with pigs.

The boat ride will take approximately 10-25 minutes before finally reaching the island with the pigs. However, we strongly encourage you to linger just a bit longer to see what the small island of Staniel Cay has to offer. Aside from the swim with pigs Nassau excursion, there is plenty to see

The Swimming Pigs that Live on Pig Beach

The island is world-renowned for its Pig Beach, getting its name from the Exuma pigs which, along with a few stray cats and goats, are the island’s only inhabitants. There are an estimated 20 to 25 pigs and piglets on the swimming pig’s beach.

If you’re staying in Nassau, you can easily book a day trip or half a day trip to see the swimming pigs. Your adventure includes a boat tour through Rose  Island.

Visitors are also allowed to carry the pigs to take pictures. Sometimes the animals can get frightened when someone picks them up. If that happens, the best thing to do is put them gently back on the ground.

Rent a catamaran in the Caribbean as low as $450/day. On average, expect catamaran rentals to cost about $1,200/day or $8,500/week. But remember, these boats can usually accommodate up to 12 guests, and the costs can be split between family and friends on board.

Modern catamarans are very durable, even in rough seas, and they have excellent buoyancy. The risk of a reversal is certainly poor, it can withstand sustained waves and wind. There are areas where time can change abruptly, but not to the point of surprising a boat unless you sail on ocean routes.
